There is no free version of LogMeIn. LogMeIn Free was discontinued on 21 January 2014 with a seven-day grace period, and nothing has replaced it. Every current LogMeIn product is a paid business subscription. If you arrived looking for a free download, the tools that actually offer one are RustDesk, AeroAdmin and AnyDesk.
LogMeIn is not really a product any more — it is a family of them, aimed at IT departments and support desks rather than individuals. It is capable, it is well established, and it is priced accordingly. For anybody hoping to reach their home PC from a laptop, it is the wrong page.
If searching for LogMeIn returns contradictory results, this is why:
So documentation, reviews and support articles written between 2022 and 2025 refer to GoTo Resolve, GoTo Central and so on — the same software under the name it no longer uses. Anything describing “LogMeIn Free” predates 2014 and is describing a product that no longer exists.
| Product | What it is for |
|---|---|
| LogMeIn Pro | Remote access to your own machines — the closest descendant of the old consumer product |
| LogMeIn Central | Managing and monitoring a fleet of endpoints |
| LogMeIn Rescue | On-demand support: the technician sends a code, the customer joins a session |
| LogMeIn Resolve | Combined IT management and support platform (formerly GoTo Resolve) |
| LogMeIn Miradore | Mobile device management |
Rescue is the one most people encounter, usually without choosing it. A support agent reads out a six-digit code, you enter it on a web page, a small applet downloads and the session begins. There is nothing to install permanently and no account to create — which is the point, and also why it is invisible as a product until you need to buy it.
LogMeIn Rescue is quoted from roughly $109 a month billed annually, with flat-rate plans around $149 a month, and mobile support typically priced as an add-on. Central and Resolve are quoted per technician and per managed endpoint, with pricing that varies enough that LogMeIn generally wants you to talk to sales.
For scale: that is roughly four to six times what TeamViewer’s entry plan costs, and against RustDesk the comparison is with zero. LogMeIn is not competing on price and does not pretend to.
Prices shift and depend on region and negotiation — treat these as a sense of scale and get a quote for anything real.
To be fair to it, LogMeIn is buying you things the free tools genuinely do not have:
If you run a support desk with several technicians and an auditor, these are not luxuries. If you are one person helping your family, you are paying for an organisational structure you do not have.
LogMeIn makes sense for an organisation running a genuine support function: multiple technicians, managed endpoints, compliance obligations and a budget that treats support tooling as infrastructure. In that context it is a credible, mature choice.
For everybody else on this site’s audience — individuals, small businesses, anybody helping someone remotely without a purchase order — it is the wrong shape of product. AnyDesk for personal use, RustDesk for free commercial use, TeamViewer if you want a commercial platform at a fraction of the cost.
If the pricing has sent you looking for alternatives, free remote desktop for business covers the options that are genuinely free for commercial use.
